A pioneer of Functional Medicine, Robert Hedaya, MD, DLFAPA has been practicing psychiatric medicine since 1979 and has been actively involved in the Functional Medicine community since 1996. He is a Clinical Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine and founder of the National Center for Whole Psychiatry. With a detective’s mindset and approach to taking on “medical mysteries,” he focuses on interactions between systems (hormone, immune, gastrointestinal) and factors like nutrition, environment, inflammation, infection, and genetics. He has been awarded the “Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award” on three occasions.
Dr. Hedaya is an active member of the Endocrine Society, a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a former board member of the Suburban Maryland Psychiatric Society, and is board certified in psychiatry, neurology, and clinical psychopharmacology. His decades of training and experience include certifications and accolades by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and the Institute for Functional Medicine.
